Be Perennial... it's cool

Updated: Jan 25, 2022

While the "GEN Z" (10-25 years old) and the MILLENNIAL (26-40 years old) are now Mass, today we present the "PERENNIAL" those who are not interested in the age and, despite the many birthdays, youth emanate from all pores.

Age counts, of course, but it must be lived and "flaunted" in the best way. The PERENNIAL think so and, proud of their Argentine hair and not at all intimidated by a few more wrinkles, continue to do what they were doing at twenty with the same enthusiasm and much more experience. And, above all, we teach that creativity, elegance, style and the desire to do have no age pushes you a solid passion and evergreen talent.

The Treccani defines PERENNIAL: "person able to adapt to new developments and changes regardless of age".

The real ambassador of PERENNIAL MOOD is Gina Pell, maître à penser and creator of the super cool site "The What" that shouts to the world: "The time has come to define the categories according to common values and passions, let’s disengage ourselves from the false and outdated classification system related especially to age".

From now on use the term PERENNIAL as a synonym of "enduring", "timeless" or "always in bloom" to define all those over something that are still on the piece and remember the year of birth only when they open their passport.

But the really important thing, hear you hear, is that you can be PERENNIAL at any age.

Your grandson still keeps his fairy-tale books but now he only plays with the Playstation? It’s a Perennial! Did the neighbor celebrate 70 by giving himself a super equipped racing bike? It’s a Perennial! Just can’t give up that pair of cherry Baby Jane that are so young? Well... you are also Perennial.

Interpret the Perennial as a revolution because finally you no longer follow a timeline that passes from generation to generation. At twenty you can read Proust, at fifty you can redesign your career, at eighty you jump with a parachute. Perennials love life, remain curious, guide others, are passionate, creative, confident, collaborative, with a global mentality, accept risks and continue to go further. Last but not least, they are inclusive because they do not judge others by the age they have and say no to the dictatorship of the population.

Elton John duets with Dua Lipa; Iris Apfel is more iconic than ever; Bill Gates finances projects against global warming; Jane Fonda still advertises face creams; Giorgio Armani continues to dictate the style; Carmen Dell'Orefice is always Top; Marina Abramovic is preparing her new solo exhibition at the Royal Academy in London; Renzo Piano has just inaugurated the new Cinema Museum in Los Angeles; Takashi Murakami brings his famous "Flowers" in the Metaverse (with the final "e", I recommend); Diane Keaton is back on set and no one would ever ask Mickey Mouse for the year of birth. And then Jane Birkin, Helen Mirren, Bruce Springsteen to close with Elizabeth II the most Perennial of all. Of them we love everything and know everything, even their age: that is a merit and certainly not a defect.
